Apple’s big “Far Out” event is upon us, and that means there are an awful lot of rumors circulating again. Naturally, this includes the latest iPhone 14. But what is known at this point and what info has already been leaked? You will read it all in this article!
The release of the iPhone 14
The iPhone 13 may have only just come out, but rumors of the iPhone 14 are already circulating. In any case, the official invitations for the Apple event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino are already with the press and, according to rumors, the latest iPhone 14 series will be unveiled to the world here. This event, dubbed “Far Out,” is being looked forward to with high anticipation, as Apple’s competitors, such as Samsung and Google, will also be releasing new models of their phones soon. The lineup for the new iPhones is expected to include a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max. We’re furiously curious to see what new features Apple will include in their latest phone release and how they’ll respond to the competition. Only time will tell – but of course, as you might expect from Apple, some things have already been leaked…
What do we already know?
As with the iPhone 13 Pro series, expect a 6.1-inch “iPhone 14 Pro” and a 6.7-inch “iPhone 14 Pro Max” in 2022. Rumors suggest that there will be some major design differences between the iPhone 14 Pro models and the standard iPhone 14 models as Apple makes changes to the Face ID camera.
Instead of a notch, the iPhone 14 Pro models would reportedly include two display cutouts. A pill-shaped cutout houses the Face ID dot projector and other Face ID components, and a second round cutout houses the front-facing camera. Non-Pro models are expected to continue to have a standard notch. Although these are two different cutouts, using software they are combined and appear as a single long pill-shaped cutout.
Changes in the camera
All in all, the iPhone 13 was a pretty solid update, but Apple is already working hard on the iPhone 14. And if rumors are to be believed, some pretty big camera improvements await us. The biggest change is expected to be a 48-megapixel camera on the Pro models. That’s a huge leap from the 12-megapixel camera on the current iPhone, and it should result in much better photos and videos.
The Pro models are also rumored to get 8K video recording, which would be a first for a smartphone. Some improvements to the telephoto lens are also expected, as well as a better Ultra Wide camera. As for the front-facing camera, all models would possibly get an improved lens with a larger aperture and autofocus capabilities. So if you’re looking to upgrade your current iPhone, the camera should be one of the iPhone 14’s biggest selling points.
Possibly a new chip in Pro models
In addition to receiving camera improvements and notch changes coming to the iPhone 14 models, rumors also suggest that the iPhone 14 Pro models could receive an updated A16 chip, while the non-Pro models will continue to use the A15 chip from the current iPhone 13 series. If that indeed happens, it would be the first time Apple would put a faster chip in a Pro iPhone model. In previous devices, both standard and Pro iPhones have the same chip.
Still waiting to see…
So whether all these rumors are really true will have to wait until September 7. The new iPhones will be available for pre-order, as we have come to expect, the Friday after the Apple event, which means that pre-order of the latest iPhone will likely start on Friday, September 9. A joyous day for Apple fans!
