It’s finally going to happen. The Polestar 6 is going into production! This environmentally conscious electric sports car will finally be available to the public. When it was first announced as a concept car as the Polestar O₂, we knew it would be a game changer in the world of electric cars. But now that he is actually going to become a reality, we are even more excited!
Still a relatively young sister company of Volvo, Polestar is a highly design-oriented electric car brand that focuses on the latest technology, safety and sustainability. Sustainability that is central both in use and during the production process, naturally producing zero-emission cars and using sustainable materials. This makes Polestar an excellent choice for drivers looking to reduce their environmental impact.
The power
Electric driving is also the future for sports driving, and the Polestar 6 leads the way. This sleek and stylish four-seat roadster combines advanced electric power with impressive looks. Under the hood, a dual-motor powertrain produces a staggering 650 kW (884 hp) of maximum power, making it one of the most powerful cars on the road today.
How does this translate to practice? The Polestar 6 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. In other words, this car is fast, furious, and completely zero-emission.
The sustainability
The Polestar 6 shows it’s “sustainable” side and does so in several ways. For example, a “thermoplastic monomaterial” is used in the cabin. Many different parts are made from just one material. This is intended to encourage recycling awareness. Only recycled polyester was used in the “delicate” parts of the vehicle.
In conclusion, the Polestar 6 is a shining example in terms of circularity. The metals used in his chassis are all clearly labeled so that when it comes time to disassemble the car, they can be easily recycled and reused. In this way, dependence on virgin aluminum can be reduced in the long run.
The Technique
Building on the concept of the Polestar O₂, the Polestar 6 promises to be an extension with even more features and innovative technology. Not much has been revealed about the interior yet, but we do know that the car will have a clean and uncluttered dashboard, interrupted only by a centrally placed large vertical 15-inch display on which almost everything can be controlled.
The Google Android Automotive OS infotainment system in the Polestar 6 will be user-friendly, to say the least. In fact, it goes a step further by showing you only the information and features you need, depending on the situation. This is great news for those of us who tend to get overwhelmed by too many options.
In addition, the Concept O₂ has a film drone on board that can autonomously follow the car up to a speed of 90 km/h and take recordings. The rear seat can be raised slightly while driving to create a zone of negative pressure, allowing the drone to take off while driving without immediately blowing away. The footage taken by the drone can then be uploaded and viewed on the central screen.
Whether this exciting futuristic feature will actually be installed in the Polestar 6 is still unknown, but one thing is for sure, the Polestar 6 is sure to be an incredible hit with the sporty driver when it finally hits the market.
