1) BEACHES OF SENTOSA ISLAND
A day on Sentosa Island is a must for any trip to Singapore. It is really entertaining, and there are so many different activities to do. If you have the means, go to Universal Studios, take the cable cars to see the sky, or visit the Maddam Tousse museum. If you want to see what Singapore has to offer on a limited budget, just head south along the southern coast of the island. There are free buses and shuttles that run regularly between Siloso Point and various attractions around Sentosa Island.
You can choose to go all the way to Tanjong Beach from this position. Palawan is the main recommendation to go see. It’s really beautiful there, and there’s a very nice little bridge/viewpoint on an island at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia that’s far away from everything else. So very cool and worthwhile!
2) GARDENS BY THE BAY
At the very least, make sure to explore Gardens By The Bay while in Singapore. It is located behind Marina Bay Sands and it is completely free to enter. However, if you want to see the Flower Dome or Cloud Forest, it costs quite a bit of money.
The gardens also host a light show every evening at 7:45 and 8:30pm, which is really cool and worth seeing!
3) CHINATOWN
“Another Chinatown,” you may be thinking as we recommend this place to you. After all, there are several places in the world where a Chinatown exists. But Singapore’s Chinatown is definitely worth spending some time in! The food street is really interesting, with many delicious eateries where you can eat delicious food. It is also one of the cheapest places to eat in Singapore.
4) LITTLE INDIA
Tekka Market’s cuisine is outstanding. This is the place to go if you like Indian food and want cheap and a tasty curry. There are a few commercial stalls in the market and also a gallery above it. It is easy to reach and you are guaranteed to leave happy and fulfilled once you have been there.
5) BOTANICAL GARDENS
The Botanical Gardens are an absolute must-see if you have some free time in the afternoon. You certainly don’t have to spend hours there; an hour or two is sufficient. These gardens are quite different from those at Garden’s by The Bay, but they are nevertheless beautiful and well worth a visit. And it costs you absolutely nothing! Take a walk along one of the picturesque trails, take some great photos along the way and breathe in the fresh air. It is definitely a highlight of the “Singapore route” for any lover of art and nature!
6) CLARKE QUAY
During the day this area is not particularly interesting, but at night when the lights come on and the attractions open, Clarke Quay transforms into a delightful little haven outside the city. You’ll discover riverside eateries, happy-hour specials and cheerful decorations. Why not start your evening with a drink at 7-11? This place may be quite pricey (it is in Singapore), but either way it is already priceless just to be able to take a look at it.
7) CROSS THE HELIX BRIDGE
This bridge is really fascinating for some reason. From there, you have a great view of Marina Bay Sands and the city skyline. If you like taking pictures, this is a good place to take sunset photos. So good for your Instagram!
8) MARIAMMAN TEMPLE
Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple stands in the center of Chinatown and is absolutely worth a look. The images are amazingly detailed, colorful, and very fun to photograph.
